Joint Statement against Gendered Islamophobia towards the European Institutions

Currently, EU anti-discrimination legislation beyond the spheres of employment, occupational and vocational training only applies to sex and racial or ethnic origin. There is no horizontal approach covering all grounds of discrimination. To close the gaps in protection against any form of discrimination – including gendered islamophobia – Fondazione L’Albero della Vita and FEMYSO, with the support of project partners, involved members of the European Parliament in an exchange on the topic and one-to one meetings- Finally, a group of MEPs sign a Joint Statement against Gendered Islamophobia to advocate towards European institutions to encourage progress towards the enforcement of the current legislative framework in order to ensure equal treatment between persons irrespective of religion or belief, disability, age or sexual orientation.
